Prepare the centre brief
Bring the information needed to understand the setting before listing tasks.
- Record the street address, contact, last pickup and first arrival.
- List classrooms, shared rooms, washrooms and staff areas proposed for cleaning.
- Identify occupied rooms, locked storage and excluded spaces.
- Bring applicable centre instructions and surface or product restrictions.
Walk the activity rooms
Separate floor and surface tasks from handling learning materials or personal items.
- Identify tables and surfaces centre staff will clear.
- Name who handles toys, books, sleep equipment and personal belongings.
- List floor finishes and any furniture that may be moved.
- Record any requested disinfection as a separate task for assessment.
Review washrooms and staff areas
Confirm the fixtures, supplies and responsibilities for each room.
- List fixtures and surfaces in scope.
- Confirm who supplies paper products, soap and liners.
- Identify storage arrangements for cleaning tools and products.
- Keep food-related requirements under the centre operator’s direction.
Agree the handover
Finish with the decisions needed before a provider can confirm the service.
- Confirm the permitted access window and an entry-problem contact.
- Exchange keys and alarm instructions separately through a secure handover.
- Choose how exceptions are reported without children’s names or images.
- Ask for the written tasks, frequency, exclusions, price and approval process.
